Why choose

Artisan
lighting

In a world saturated with identical objects, choosing artisan lighting is affirming a conviction — that light deserves to be unique.

The essential difference

An artisan lighting piece,
one that resembles no other

Behind every Spiridon Deco artisan lighting piece lies a manufacturing process radically different from industrial production. Human hands, natural materials, a singular gesture — each piece carries within it the irreducible trace of the person who created it.

Designed in Tournai by our Belgian design studio and crafted in Egyptian artisan workshops heirs to a millennial tradition, our lighting embodies a meeting between two cultures of excellence.

Reasons for the choice

Four arguments for
artisan lighting

01

Know-how,
a timeless value

A craftsman spends years mastering their gesture — blowing glass, cutting crystal, forging brass. This invested time shows in every curve, every reflection, every joint. It is a richness that no machine can reproduce.

02

The aesthetics
of singularity

Two artisan lighting pieces from the same mould will never be identical. Slight variations in tint, thickness or texture make each piece an absolute original — impossible to reproduce in series.

03

Quality
and durability

Noble materials — crystal, alabaster, blown glass, solid brass — are selected for their resistance and lasting beauty. A well-maintained artisan lighting piece lasts decades without losing its brilliance or structural integrity.

04

A responsible choice
with meaning

Choosing artisan lighting means supporting human and thoughtful manufacturing. It means refusing planned obsolescence. It means investing in an object that has a history, an origin, a craftsman.

Synthetic or low-grade materials to cut costs
Automated standardised assembly, no singularity
No customisation possible
Fast obsolescence, no spare parts
No added value over time

What makes an
artisan lighting
piece noble

01

Mouth-blown glass

Each bubble, each variation in thickness is unique. Mouth-blown glass disperses light in a way that no moulded piece can equal.

02

Hand-cut crystal

Each facet is polished individually. Hand-cutting creates irregular prisms that diffract light into living flashes of brilliance.

03

Natural alabaster

A translucent stone with unique veining, alabaster allows a soft, warm and soothing light to filter through — impossible to reproduce synthetically.

04

Patinated brass and metals

Brazed, hammered, patinated in the traditional manner — our metal structures acquire over time a depth that industrial treatments cannot simulate.

Frequently asked questions

Everything about
artisan lighting

What distinguishes an artisan lighting piece from a standard one?

An artisan lighting piece is manufactured wholly or in part by hand, by craftsmen specialised in a particular skill (glass blowing, crystal cutting, metal forging…). Unlike a standardised industrial luminaire, it presents micro-variations inherent to human craftsmanship and is produced in small series or as a unique piece. Its price reflects the artisanal time invested, the quality of materials and the singularity of the result — not a production volume.

Can I order a bespoke artisan lighting piece?

Yes — it is in fact our speciality. Our lighting collections are starting points, not limits. Dimensions, combination of materials, metal finish, number of arms or suspension length: everything can be adjusted to your project. We also work on fully bespoke commissions, starting from your plans or your inspirations. Contact our Tournai studio to begin your bespoke project.

Where are Spiridon Deco artisan lighting pieces made?

Every Spiridon Deco lighting piece is designed in our studio in Tournai, Belgium, then hand-crafted in partner Egyptian artisan workshops — heirs to a millennial tradition of glass and metalwork. This dual Belgian and Egyptian origin is at the heart of our identity: the rigour of Nordic design meets the richness of Oriental craftsmanship. Every piece is inspected and certified before dispatch, in compliance with CENELEC European electrical standards.

What is the lead time for a bespoke artisan lighting piece?

Lead times vary according to the complexity of the piece and the workshops’ order book. For a piece from our collections in a standard finish, allow 6 to 10 weeks. For a fully bespoke creation, between 10 and 16 weeks. We provide a precise schedule upon project validation. Delivery is assured worldwide, with bespoke packaging for large-format pieces.

Our position

Belgian artisan lighting
and Egyptian craftsmanship

Spiridon Deco holds a unique position in the artisan lighting market: that of a Belgian creator who combines the precision of Nordic design with the richness of Egyptian craftsmanship. Far from industrial compromises, each piece is the result of a demanding process — conceived in Tournai, hand-crafted in Egypt, rigorously quality-controlled before delivery.

Our twelve families of artisan lighting span a wide aesthetic spectrum — from geometric minimalism to organic baroque — to meet all types of interior architecture projects. Each family can be adapted to the specific constraints of your space: ceiling height, wiring type, desired light intensity, home automation compatibility.

If you’re looking to replace industrial lighting with pieces that have soul, or to dress an exceptional space with creations capable of elevating it, our Tournai studio is your point of contact. We support architects, decorators, hoteliers and the most discerning private clients since 2000. All pieces are certified to CENELEC European electrical standards.
